Coimbatore receives highest 4268 cases surpassing Chennai, TN receives record 475 deaths

Tamil Nadu added 33764 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, pushing the active cases tally past the 3 Lakh mark to 3,10,224.

There is a steady decline in new cases of infection in the state, while a decrease in new cases has also been reported in capital Chennai.

Chennai received 3,561 new cases and 98 deaths of the coronavirus in comparison to 4041 reported yesterday.

Coimbatore district added the highest 4268 new cases in the state, It surpassed capital Chennai for the first time.

The cases have been steadily rising in Coimbatore.

From 2,835 cases on May 13, it has reached 4,268 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu yesterday recorded all-time highest 475 deaths pushing the death toll in the state to 21,815.

Tamil Nadu saw 29,717 recoveries on Wednesday bringing the total recoveries to 16,13,221.

The state is witnessing a gradual decline in daily cases for the last few days.

The state had 34,285 cases on Tuesday and 34,867 cases on Monday.

The total number of people found infected with the Covid-19 in the state has increased to 19,45,260.

Health and Family Welfare Minister M Subramaniam said that due to concerted efforts of the government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, frontline workers, public support and total lockdown, there has been a significant decline in the Covid-19 cases in the state.
