Coimbatore records the highest 3,332 new cases in Tamil Nadu, 32 fatalities

Coimbatore district added the highest new cases in the state, It has surpassed capital Chennai several times for the highest cases in the state.

The district`s cumulative death toll stands at 1307 after 32 more people succumbed to the virus on Tuesday.

Coimbatore district saw the recovery of 1,936 patients on Tuesday.

There is a steady decline in new cases of infection in the state; a decrease in new cases has also been reported in the south and northern districts including Chennai.

However, eight western districts have reported 73% growth in cases, while the central zone has reported a 67% rise in daily cases.

Tamil Nadu added 26513 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, taking the active cases tally past the 2.9 Lakh mark.

A total of 490 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the state.

Chennai reported 2,467 new cases on Tuesday, while 58 patients succumbed to the virus.

Health and Family Welfare Minister M Subramaniam said that due to concerted efforts of the government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin, frontline workers, public support and total lockdown, there has been a significant decline in the Covid-19 cases in the state.
