Summary:

CUTTACK: Resentment is brewing among residents over waterlogging and poor sanitation in several areas of Cuttack. With drains overflowing and garbage spilling on to the streets, residents have been blaming the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) for its poor monsoon preparedness. "Despite the fact that we created new roads to prevent waterlogging, the situation gets worse every time it rains. "We have asked the ward officers several times to remove the garbage and clear the drains, but they keep ignoring it. I feel helpless as a major connecting drain from Prajatantra office to Sutahat has not been desilted for years owing to encroachment," Jena said.Citizens worry that the overflowing drains could lead to the spread of dengue and other vector-borne diseases..
