Compost facility at Chhatra Bazaar soon

CUTTACK: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) will start construction of an organic waste converter unit at Chhatra Bazaar in August. CMC officials said the compost produced will be used in parks and nurseries managed by the civic body. CMC commissioner Bikash Mohapatra said the civic body in collaboration with Tata Trust will set up the compost unit. Officials said a dedicated team will collect vegetables and other organic garbage from the market and drop it in the plant.Over 800 vegetable traders do business at Chhatra Bazaar. The unit will exclusively deal with bio-degradable garbage, mainly rotten vegetables, generated from the market.In the organic waste converter unit, garbage will be recycled and converted into compost..
