Cold wave continues, no early respite, predicts IMD

BHUBANESWAR: There was no respite from cold in the state as 18 places recorded temperatures below 10 degree Celsius. Sahu, the former director of regional IMD centre here, said intense cold prevailed in the state for successive days as dry cold wind blew from northern region.On Tuesday, Koraput at 4.5 degree Celsius recorded highest seven degree Celsius fall from normal. Director of Centre for Environment and Climate of SOA University in the city Sarat Chandra Sahu said night temperature would witness a minor rise in the state next week. Railways stations and night shelters in the city and other places also saw rush of poor people. People at many places, mostly in interior pockets, preferred to remain indoors while roads and market places wore deserted look as evening approached..
