Summary:

It can be mentioned here that Mundali water treatment facility of Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO) supplies over 70 percent drinking water needs of the city pumping and treating waters from river Mahanadi. However, as the power supply to the pumping station and treatment plant is on the city outskirts and the Mundali-Chandaka Pipeline is affected by uprooting of thousands of trees across its more than 15-km path, emergency measures are underway to restore water supply through the pipeline. In order to restore the power supply the State Government had already arranged two 1,500 KW generators for the power supply to Mundali. The PHEO has also initiated water supply in many areas across the capital city and has covered 40 percent area with a low pressure so that people will not face any difficulty. Many areas of the Capital were also supplied with water tankers by PHEO and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation including the affected slum pockets and the temporary cyclone shelters where water supply was needed urgently..
