Covid-19 cases show a decline in Cuttack district, rural areas still a concern

Coronavirus cases have started to decline in the Cuttack district of Odisha, while the number of recoveries is also increasing steadily.

In the last two days, where 1406 people have been infected with Covid-19 in Cuttack district, while 2117 returned home after fully recovering.

Every Covid-infected patient went through an X-ray checkup in each Covid care centre of the state on Monday; testing was reduced on Sunday.

On Sunday, only 1221 samples were tested in the district.

Antigen tests were not conducted in 7 blocks of the district.

Odisha received 8313 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Monday, which took the tally in the coastal state to 764,997, a health department official said.

Currently, Odisha has 91,693 active cases, while the number of recoveries stands at 670,527

The state`s cumulative death toll has reached 2754 as 35 more people succumbed to Covid-19 in the state.

Khurda district, which comprises the state capital Bhubaneswar, registered the maximum number of fresh cases at 974, followed by Cuttack (593), Mayurbhanj (532), Angul (505), Sundargarh (465), Balasore (452) and Dhenkanal (407).

The state has so far conducted over 1.17 crore sample tests for Covid-19, including 61,613 on Sunday, and the positivity rate stands at 6.5 per cent.
