N-E villages to get training on harnessing rural resources by Doon org

Dehradun: In order to boost employment opportunities for villagers in the Northeast, Doon-based Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisation (HESCO) will facilitate rural resource-based training to N-E villages in areas like setting up of watermills, spring recharging, fruit processing and energy generation. Union minister of state Jitendra Singh who holds independent charge of the DONER ministry, said that the development of the Northeast region was of prime importance for the overall inclusive growth of the country. “Tourism is a key focus area towards achieving Northeast’s growth, keeping in mind the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage,” he said. Anil Joshi, founder of HESCO, told TOI, “We will be preparing community-oriented programmes for almost all states of the Northeast as part of this project. Training regarding the rural resources-based techniques that have been devised by us will be given at HESCO’s centre in Dehradun as well as identified villages in the Northeast.”MoUs were also signed with three other organisation to increase the tourist footfall in NE states..
