50,000 people across U’khand occupying nazul land, face uncertainty after HC order

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand high court’s recent order to quash the state government’s decision taken in 2009 to freehold ‘nazul’ land in the state has created uncertainty for thousands of people who had built their homes as well as commercial complexes on around 20,000 acres of ‘nazul’ land. Though the present BJP government has also come up with their own nazul policy, which has been approved by the cabinet but it is yet to release a government order notifying the policy. This is a big blow to me as I do not have any other source of income.”Considered as a populist step, the freeholding of nazul land was started by the Congress government in 2009. Government will do its best to ensure that the general public does not face any problem.”.
