Dehradun: Speaking at the launch of Vivekananda Gyanvriksh Chhatravriti in Almora, Uttarakhand governor K K Paul said that the government should focus on developing a Vivekananda circuit here considering the bond the revered leader shared with the Himalayan state.“Whatever Swami Vivekananda has written about Uttarakhand is a matter of pride for the state. Almora and other places associated with him should be developed as a tourist circuit. Even in his famous lecture delivered at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago, the Swami made a mention of various places in the Kumaon region. This will bring his followers to the state and boost tourism here,” said Paul.Announcing that Rs 1 lakh would be provided to the government school at Nowgaon for setting up a library and spiritual centre, the governor said that the Swami had encouraged learning English and Sanskrit along with one’s mother tongue. “Swami believed that while Sanskrit will connect us to our ancient scriptures, English will help us know about the technological development across the world,” he further added.Paul also distributed school bags and other study materials to students of 13 local primary schools and two inter-colleges..
