Probe ordered into skill development programme after complaints of irregularities

After skill development minister Harak Singh Rawat received complaints about irregularities at skill development centres, a thorough probe has been ordered into the programme.On Friday, the project director of Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission ( UKSDM ) was asked to investigate the matter and submit a report at the earliest. DEHRADUN: The state government’s ambitious skill development programme, which aims to provide employment opportunities to lakhs of youths across Uttarakhand, has run into rough weather. “In case any irregularity or wrongdoing is found during the inquiry, the work order of the erring centre would be cancelled immediately and strict action would be taken against the centre, besides initiating proceedings to blacklist it. The project director of UKSDM, Ahmed Iqbal, has already sent a proposal to the government in this regard.“The initial findings into some of the allegations are shocking and we are looking into issues in detail,” Rawat said. He did not fail to mention that the issue was raised before him earlier and he had asked the authorities concerned to take the required steps.Meanwhile, when questioned about the issue, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said, “A probe is being conducted into the matter and if there is any wrongdoing, the guilty will not be spared.”.
