Uttarakhand to borrow Rs 3,632 crore from NCDC to boost rural economy

A loan of Rs 799 crore has been approved for the first year, for which the state government has approved to give a guarantee of Rs 429 crore. DEHRADUN: In order to strengthen the rural economy by improving the financial condition of around 50,000 farmers in the state , the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) is going to provide a loan of Rs 3,632 crore to the Uttarakhand government. According to the report prepared by the state, Rs 135 crore has been sought for aromatic plants, Rs 425 crore for dairy, Rs 150 crore for fisheries, Rs 125 crore for sheep and goat, Rs 45 crore for promotion of homestays, among others.The CM said that this project will prove to be important in fulfilling the target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022. In a meeting with Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh, the CM and his team spoke about the need to strengthen the rural economy.
