Education department to ask NCERT to publish 65 lakh books for Uttarakhand

DEHRADUN: The education department will ask the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to publish up to 65 lakh books for Uttarakhand for the next academic session. The move aims to fulfil the surge in demand that has arisen after NCERT books were made compulsory in schools in Uttarakhand. This year, private publishers were asked to reprint NCERT books to make up for the shortage.Education minister Arvind Pandey said on Monday that officials of the education department will hold a meeting with the NCERT in this regard. “Schools should organise functions to celebrate birth anniversaries of historical figures and students should participate in them,” Pandey said. “We want to make sure that books are available on time and in adequate numbers..
