Set up advisory panel under PCPNDT Act: HC

In the petition, Verma had alleged that anyone prosecuted under the Act can go free due to improper and illegal implementation of Act. He had stated that in the absence of gazette notification before appointing district appropriate officers, they hold no legal rights to take action against anyone under PCPNDT Act Verma’s counsel, advocate Ajay Veer Pundir, said, “Legally, in Uttarakhand there is no competent authority to prosecute culprits under the PCPNDT Act because the officials appointed are not in adherence to the guidelines laid in the Act.” Dehradun: The high court has directed the state government to constitute an appropriate authority and advisory committee under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994 by publishing about the same in official gazette within three months.The court’s order on August 24 came while hearing a writ petition filed by a Haridwar-based doctor, Dr Vijay Verma..
