SIT files 3rd chargesheet against 5 including suspended PCS officer

Rudrapur: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the alleged NH-74 land acquisition and compensation scam in Uttarakhand, on Monday filed the third chargesheet in the case against five people, including a suspended PCS officer. Rudrapur circle officer Swatantra Kumar Singh, who is heading the SIT , appeared before the crime prevention court in Nainital and submitted the chargesheet highlighting financial irregularities to the tune of Rs10 crore in 2015.While the second chargesheet was filed against six people on April 12, the first one was filed against 12 persons on February 2. Speaking to TOI,Udham Singh Nagar SSP Sadanand Date, who is heading the overall investigation, said, “A chargesheet has been filed against five accused, including arrested PCS officer Tirath Pal, a revenue inspector and three farmers — Dilbagh Singh, Heera Lal and Harjinder Singh.”According to the chargesheet, during the land acquisition process, the accused changed the land use of arable land in Bajpur, causing a loss of Rs 9.5 crore to the state exchequer..
