Rains block roads to Badrinath, Kedarnath and Yamunotri, Char Dham yatra hit

Dehradun: Heavy rains lashed Uttarakhand on Monday with landslides blocking the roads to Badrinath, Kedarnath and Yamunotri shrines, causing inconvenience to the Char Dham pilgrims. The highway finally opened at 6pm.In Uttarkashi district, seven link roads were also blocked due to landslides. The current spell will last till Tuesday morning and rains will start reducing afterwards,” said Bikram Singh, director, regional meteorological centre. At Yamunotri, 500 pilgrims returning from the shrine were stuck at Jankichatti for nearly 12 hours after a landslide at Ojari-Dabarkot at Rishikesh-Yamunotri highway.
