Women, SC/ST aspirants may get education qualification breather

DEHRADUN: The state government has proposed different qualification levels for gram and zila panchayat candidates as well as for women and SC/ST candidates. “To be the head of the zila panchayat, you have to be more educated than a member of the gram panchayat. But, according to sources, when the proposal was presented to the minister, he demanded that the criteria for women and SC/ST candidates must be different.
