Summary:

Dehradun: Just 20 months after the BJP came to power with a thumping majority in Uttarakhand in 2017,several leaders who were its star campaigners failed to work their magic in the civic polls. The party could manage just seven ward seats, which was equivalent to the number won by independents and just one more than Congress. In several seats, sitting MLAs could not help party candidates win. Similar was the case with Congress too.CM Trivendra Rawat was left red-faced as his pick Nagina Devi was defeated by Congress nominee for the seat of chairperson of Doiwala palika parishad. Indira is a three-time MLA from the constituency and is regarded as a political heavyweight of Uttarakhand..
