Their 21-year-old son Lieutenant Arjun Thakur was awarded the coveted Sword of Honour at the 143rd passing out parade in the Indian Military Academy ( IMA ).Grandson of an Armyman, Thakur, who also received President's gold medal from the National Defence Academy whose training he completed last year, has now become a part of 6/8 Gorkha Rifles.Overwhelmed with the achievement of his son, Yashmir Singh, who teaches in a government school, told TOI that he couldn’t have asked for anything more than seeing his son dressed in the Army uniform.“Arjun joining the Army has brought immense happiness to our family and him being awarded the Sword of Honour is an added bonus,” Singh said.Arjun’s mother Sunita Devi, also a teacher, couldn’t stop gushing at his son, who was clad in an Army uniform.“My son is looking so handsome in this dress,” gushed the proud mother.Arjun, who could not control his happiness either, said, “I couldn’t have done this without the support of my family..
