Dehradun: The Dehradun district administration has cancelled the schedule caste (SC) certificate of newly-elected Congress councillor from Aamwala Tarla in Raipur, Reeta Raani, after it found that the documents submitted by her were ‘fake’.However, the decision on the continuation of her membership is yet to be decided by the state election commission.A complaint was filed on November 29 by one Rakesh Kumar, husband of BJP candidate Neetu Balmiki, who was also fighting from Aamwala Tarla, a reserved constituency. In the complaint, he alleged that the caste certificate submitted by Raani was fake.Following the complaint, a special investigation team (SIT) was formed which was directed to submit their report to a four-member scrutiny team consisting of additional district magistrate (admin), district social welfare officer, sub-divisional magistrate and tehsildar. The team then summoned Raani after the report flagged few discrepancies in her documents.“When the scrutiny committee asked Reeta to show proof, she was unable to produce any and hence, her caste certificate was cancelled,” an official said.“After examining the report submitted by the committee, the complaint was found to be correct and the caste certificate was cancelled..
