New pipelines in Haldwani to end water woes for 10k residents in 13 colonies

Nainital: In relief to over 10,000 residents in 13 colonies in Haldwani, jal sansthan will lay new pipelines to ensure smooth supply of water to households. In some areas, pipelines are over 40 years old and are unable to maintain uninterrupted water supply.Jal sansthan and jal nigam are also building overhead water storage tanks and tubewells to provide relief to parched localities. We aim to finish the work by summer.” The problem of water shortage compounds during summer with tubewells meant for water supply also drying up.Residents complain that they are often forced to purchase water from private tankers, spending up to Rs 1,200 every day. A corpus of Rs 45.85 lakh has been allocated for the project. The areas have long been grappling with water woes due to increased anthropogenic pressure on pipelines that were decades old.The areas where new pipelines will be laid include Satya Vihar, Jagdamba Vihar, Devalchaura, Kusumkhera, Adarsh Nagar, Omkar City, Shiv Colony, Satyalok Colony, Kalika Colony, Vaishnavi Colony, Indira Nagar, River Valley Colony and Bhatt Colony.Vishal Kumar Saxena, executive engineer of jal sansthan, said, “The funds have been already sanctioned for the work and tenders have been issued..
