Five commuters injured in bee attack in Roorkee

Roorkee: Five commuters were injured when a swarm of honeybees attacked them at the upper Ganga canal bypass route in Roorkee on Thursday. It is estimated that a swarm of around 20,000 bees attacked some commuters who were on motor bikes. Because of the incident, the traffic police had to divert traffic on the route for two hours. The route is widely used by the locals as well as tourists to reach Haridwar.Providing details, traffic sub-inspector Yogesh Saxena told TOI, “Police received information about the bee attack on UGC bypass route around 9.30 am on Thursday morning. We closed the route and diverted the traffic on highway for two hours.”The five people who were injured were later admitted to a nearby hospital and were discharged after primary treatment..
