RTO to file case against cabtaxi owners who do not cooperate in elections

“The department has already provided 300 vehicles to the election commission which are being used by zonal and sector magistrates. Around 700 big vehicles have been acquired to transport EVMs and other election related material to the polling booths. FIRs will be filed against all the taxi/cab owners who do not send their vehicles on the due date under representation of people act of 1951,” said Arvind Pandey, ARTO. Dehradun: A week after taxi operators objected to acquiring vehicles for polls during peak tourist season, the regional transport office on Saturday announced that it will file an FIR against all the taxi and cab owners who fail to deploy their vehicles on poll duty.As per notification issued by the RTO, license of the driver will also be cancelled along with the permit of the vehicle in case of non-cooperation with the department in the election process..
