Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) claimed that due to long pending electricity bills of government agencies and commercial establishment it is struggling to keep its finances afloat.

BCK Mishra, managing director of UPCL said, “The overdue electricity bills area a big concern for us.
It is impacting our collection efficiency and revenues directly.
Since UPCL has long term power supply agreements with commercial units, the overdue power bills delay the repayment process to our creditors who supply us power for further distribution.
Even though we also carry out devices for expanding the collection of bills and disconnected power connection whenever necessary, the mounting arrears are a big cause of concern.”
As per the data, the top defaulters include various units of Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan with overdues of more than Rs.
