Summary:

DEHRADUN: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has stopped the fresh proceedings initiated on January 21, 2017 by AIIMS and Union health minister J P Nadda to write the annual performance appraisal report (APAR) of whistleblower IFS officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi . Efforts to start the APAR process for the period in 2017 shocked Chaturvedi, a Magsaysay Award winner and IFS officer. Chaturvedi was removed from the post of chief vigilance officer (CVO) of AIIMS in August 2014. The official had then claimed that he was removed for acting against corrupt officials. He then approached the CAT seeking relief and initiating contempt proceedings against the AIIMS, Union health ministry and others. After going through available records, CAT chairman Justice (Rtrd) Permod Kohli ordered that the petition for initiating contempt proceedings against alleged violation of the order dated February 3, 2016, would be allowed and the Central government should file a response within four weeks explaining their position..
