Move to merge state tourism entities receive mixed response

DEHRADUN: The tourism department’s move to merge its various wings to streamline work is being met with mixed reactions. Even in other states they have single tourism body which work in unison for the same objective. GMVN and KMVN run the guest houses which are owned by UTDB. Most of these rest houses are running into losses for their locations.Dhirender Kumar, manager of Ganga resorts at Rishikesh, one of the few profit-making rest houses of GMVN said, “Tourists get confused with these different organizational structures in tourism departments. The move will boost Uttarakhand tourism.”Secretary of GMVN-KMVN employees association, SP Pant, welcoming the initiative said, the internal issues will be taken care of by senior officials of all the three wings and no one will suffer..
