School authorities said that that they are also concerned about the students’ safety and most of them said that ‘in and out’ registers are being regularly updated.“There should be more child abuse workshops in schools and awareness about the right and the wrong kind of touch and other such misbehaviours can also be highlighted through school boards. Children should be asked to reach school only 15 minutes before school hour and parents must give exact names of people authorised to pick their wards after school, at least for students of classes I to V.”He added that it is important to do everything possible to ensure that the children are safe. A young student must know what to report and a friendly communication channel should always be open for them,” said, Gurleen Bindra, a city-based psychologist.Meanwhile, the All Uttarakhand Parents Association (AUPA) members who had earlier planned to approach the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and get them to order schools to sign an affidavit taking full responsibility of students inside the school premises till they are safely back home, are likely to have a meeting in this regard on September 14..
