Republic Day 2018: Here are the highlights and everything that is new this year!

Republic Day marks India`s adoption and enforcement of the complete constitution on January 26, 1950, after gaining of independence from British rule in 1947. On this day India seized to be a dominion of the Commonwealth and became the first sovereign, democratic republic.

The entire nation celebrates this day and contingents of the Army, Navy, and Air Force display their valour during the parade.

New defense equipment’s are displayed at the Rajpath.

The parade also includes colorful floats from each of India`s states.

Smaller parades are held in each state as well.

Here is a list of events that is happening for the first time in the history of India.

In 2018, the leaders of all 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries will be chief guests at the Republic Day Parade.

This includes Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

It will be the first time that so many heads of government and state will attend the parade together.

These countries play a significant role in India’s Act East Policy

A Ramayana festival will be held to welcome the countries, commemorative Ramayana stamps will be released, and specially-made khadi jackets will be offered to the chief guests to wear during the occasion.

A newly-raised all-woman biker’s contingent prom the para-military force (Border Security Force) will make its debut on Rajpath on January 26. The contingent will comprise of 27-member BSF women ‘daredevils’ and will ride a 350 cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles.

Indigenously-developed weapon system integrated helicopter Rudra BSE -0.05 % will make its maiden appearance in the Republic Day parade on Rajpath.
