HC orders to continue GTB tech, polytechnic institutes: DSGMC chief

Syed Ali AhmedTribune News ServiceNew Delhi, May 22The DSGMC president Manjit Singh (GK) said Delhi High Court today ordered to continue Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB)Institute of Technology and GTB Institute of Polytechnic and the total number of seats in both the colleges would be 1,100. The DSGMC approached the court following order of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) had withdrawn its approval from both the colleges on the ground several deficiencies including lease deed documents. Non-availability of perpetual lease of the land in front of the committee is fatal and it goes to the route and as per norms of the AICTE, the institution is not entitled to get approval. In such situation the state appellate committee has no option but to recommend withdrawal of approval to the institution.” Chairman of both the colleges Avatar Singh Hit said, “We approached the court following getting the lease hold papers from the DDA, approved building plan by the authorities concerned.”.
