Govt aid to RWAs for upkeep of parks doubled to Rs 2 lakhacre

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has decided to double the financial assistance provided to RWAs and NGOs registered with the Delhi Parks and Gardens Society for maintenance of parks and gardens to Rs 2 lakh per acre. The government will bring in a policy to involve RWAs, NGOs and corporates to adopt and maintain around 18,000 parks in the city. At the meeting, the RWAs also highlighted issues like water scarcity, problems related to water harvesting and lack of infrastructure in parks. In FY18, as many as 261 RWAs received financial assistance of approximately Rs1.63 crore for maintaining 1,164 parks covering around 370 acres.The government has also decided to reduce the documentation required for receiving the aid on the request of RWAs..
