6km Noida road to be dust-free zone by Sept-end

NOIDA: Taking cognizance of long-pending demands to address dust pollution from realty projects , Noida Authority’s horticulture department has begun work on converting the 6-km main road of sectors 74, 75, 76 and 77 into “dust-free” zones on Tuesday by planting grass along both sides. Work on nearby realty projects, as well as metro work, has caused acute respiratory issues for residents in the area. Tuesday’s work of laying grass across the sides of the road is a welcome step in the direction of attaining a pollution-free area,” said Amit Gupta, a resident of Sector 77. Noida Authority general manager Rajeev Tyagi told TOI that around 375 km of roads in the city have been earmarked to be turned into “dust-free” zones.“Out of this, a 20-km stretch across Sector 82 and Hosiery Complex in Phase 2 have already been converted into dust-free zones,” said Tyagi. “We have been raising the complaint of dust pollution in our sectors for a year now..
