Yamuna flows above danger mark, alert sounded

NEW DELHI: Delhi government has sounded alarm along Yamuna floodplains as the river is flowing above the danger mark due to over 2.5 lakh cusecs water being released from Hathanikund barrage. "The district administration is taking necessary action in the wake of the rise in water level," said DM east district K Mahesh.Tents would be set up in affected areas and foods would be provided to people. On Tuesday afternoon the river was flowing at 205.16m while the danger mark is 204.83m.According to official sources the water level is likely to show a rising trend for around two days.Chief secretary Anshu Prakash held an emergency meeting to review the situation and directed the DMs and officials to make arrangements to shift people who live on the Yamuna floodplains, especially the farmers..
