Delhi govt forms inspection team to check air pollution

New Delhi: Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain on Thursday constituted a six-member team to carry out surprise inspection in the national capital to check whether measures to control air pollution have been put in place. As per the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), mechanical sweeping and water sprinkling of the roads is one of the important means to check and curb air pollution. The minister also sought the details and schedule of the operation of mechanical sweeping and sprinkling vehicles being operated by these bodies including the PWD. Hussain said that inspections would be carried out to check whether ground level steps have been taken by various municipal, local body agencies such as north Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), east MCD, Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB), for prevention, control and mitigation of air pollution in the city.
