NYOOOZ among 87 organisations to receive `Google News Initiative` funding in the world

Online video streaming giant YouTube has selected 10 Indian news firms to receive funding for their unique news content.

NYOOOZ- My City My News which covers over 80 cities across India has been selected in the `Google News Initiative` (GNI) YouTube Innovation funding program.

The company said it received hundreds of proposals for the funding and handpicked 87 recipients across the world including the local news platform NYOOOZ- My City My News from India.

Other than India Today, Marathi content creator Bharatiya Digital Party, agriculture news portal Gaon Connection, and city-centric new-age digital media portal NYOOOZ, among others.

NYOOOZ has been a news partner with Yahoo News, UC Browser, NewsDog, DailyHunt and Google Stand.

In June, the video-streaming major had committed $25 million in innovation funding as part of GNI to support video journalism across the world.

It sought to help newsrooms strengthen their online video capabilities and experiment with new formats for video journalism.
