‘Shopper’ cops nab pickpocket at Khan Market

NEW DELHI: A pickpocket , who was part of a gang operating in south Delhi’s Khan Market , was arrested on Saturday night. He said that he would come to Khan Market from northwest Delhi in the evening with his associate Karan, commit the thefts and return. They would pick mobile phones from the pockets of jackets and coats of elderly men outside bookshops and eateries.“We have taken Mehto in police custody to nab the other gang members,” added DCP Verma. The accused, Dhaneshwar Mehto, and his associates would surround their target and steal their mobile phones and wallets.Recently, the gang had targeted former journalist M K Razdan while he was browsing through books at a bookstore in Khan Market. However, on being interrogated further he admitted to having stolen phones from several people..
