NEW DELHI: The mystery link between pressing a button on an electronic voting machine and its verification on paper was made clear during a voter awareness campaign at Delhi University’s Arts Faculty on Saturday. Mahesh said that since 1989, when voting age was lowered, there has always been a need to make the youth a part of the electoral process. “I did not think it would be so simple,” Mishra later said. Hundreds of first-time voters turned up to use the EVM and VVPAT machines placed there by the District Election Officer (East) in collaboration with DUSU to spread voter awareness.Deepak Mishra, a student of the School of Open Learning, tried out the system. “We have put up VVPAT machines so that the first-time voters can acclimatise to the voting process and see how they can verify that their votes have been correctly recorded,” the DM said.A bus — designated Democracy on Wheels — stood nearby..
