Gurugram: Sunday's fire tragedy in Manesar was another reminder for Gurugram authorities to enhance its infrastructure of fire safety which in the present state of affairs remain unprepared to deal with a major fire tragedy. As has been reported previously, most of the industrial units are openly flouting the Haryana building code of 2017 that has emphasised on providing open spaces and ventilation. Taking note of ignoring the safety of the citizens, the fire department officials have even warned the builders of action if the builders ignore the safety norms. Just this year, there have been six major fire tragedies in the industrial units where lives of not only Indian nationals but also foreign nationals have been lost.
