Australian Minister Dan Tehan said ex-Australian PM Tony Abbott will visit India in early August to advance our important economic and trade ties as part of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During this visit, he will also meet Indian ministers and business leaders.

Earlier, India and Australia developed their bilateral ties into a comprehensive strategic partnership.

During the virtual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison, the two countries signed seven agreements, including defence and mining.

The two countries had announced to share views in maritime cooperation to meet the challenges as a comprehensive strategic partner, including the Indian Ocean.

Tony Abbott was the Prime Minister of Australia from 2013 to 2015.

In 2014, Tony Abbott returned the 900-year-old Shiva idol during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
