32 lakh new vehicles in Delhi in 7 years, but accidents dip 26%

NEW DELHI: Accidents in the city have dipped by 26.4% since 2010 despite the addition of 32 lakh new vehicles in these seven years. Forty-six per cent of the total accidents was found to have been caused by speeding and dangerous driving. The police study reveals that 45.1% of the total accidents were caused due to the driver's fault, whereas in 48.2% the cause of the accident was unknown. Highest number of accidents were caused between March and April between 10pm and 1am. Narrow roads resulted in 44% of the accidents while a lack of central verge caused 41% of pedestrian deaths in 2015..
