Delhi pollution: Bhalswa landfill fire rages on as city chokes

"The work will begin from November last week and NHAI will use the waste from landfill sites. However, small cities like Mysuru, Allepey and Panaji have managed to do away with the concept of landfill sites by installing compost plants on zonal level. "Compost and waste-to-energy plants at zonal level can be installed in Delhi also but we need land, which is not available. About 70% waste will be utilised and then we will turn these sites into green cover as per LG's order," added a senior official from East Corporation.
