Sacked Tata Steel executive shoots senior manager dead

NEW DELHI: A sacked Tata Steel employee barged into a senior manager’s room and shot him dead at point-blank range at the company’s stockyard in Faridabad on Friday morning. Police said Pal died on the spot.Pandey, an engineering graduate, was an executive manager in the company. Mujesar SHO Ashok Kumar said the shooting took place around 1pm at Tata’s Hardware Chowk office.Pal’s body has been sent to a government hospital for an autopsy. “We have recovered some CCTV footage which shows the suspect and efforts are being made to track him down,” Ashok Kumar said.A case of murder has been registered and a manhunt launched to nab Pandey. The suspect fled brandishing his pistol and is absconding.Eyewitnesses told the police that the manager, Arindam Pal, was resting in his cabin early in the afternoon when the suspect, Vishwas Pandey, stormed in and fired five rounds at him..
