Ghaziabad: Farmer climbs mobile tower seeking loan waiver

GHAZIABAD: A 30-year-old farmer from Saharanpur climbed a mobile exchange tower in Loni and threatened to commit suicide by shooting himself on Monday. He demanded the waiver of a Rs 5 lakh bank loan taken by his father.The farmer has been identified as Devraj, a resident of Bilaspur village in Saharanpur. He was detained by police.He said his father Jagpal had taken a loan of Rs 5 lakh from a government bank in 2010. Devraj descended only after tehsildar Pradyuman Sharma promised to look into the matter and help him provide him help in waiving of the loan. He climbed the 100-foot-tall tower on Monday morning and fired in the air with his licenced gun to attract the attention of passersby.He threatened to commit suicide when people tried to climb the tower..
