High court quashes ban on registration of properties in illegal colonies

GHAZIABAD: The Allahabad high court on Tuesday quashed the district administration’s order banning registration of properties in illegal colonies. The DM’s order was illegal and she had clearly overstepped her mandate,” said Brahampal Singh Veerbhan, secretary, tehsil bar association. The petition filed by Singh is first of the two writ petitions filed in the case in Allahabad high court, the second being filed by tehsil bar association. The court is scheduled to hear the matter again on January 11.The HC order has come close on the heels of inspector general, stamps and registration, Ministhy S’s directive to DM Ritu Maheshwari asking her to revoke her December 4 administrative order banning registration of illegal colonies. DM Ritu Maheshwari had banned the registration of properties in illegal colonies to check proliferation of such colonies in the wake of building collapse cases in Ghaziabad.The tehsil bar association, which has been spearheading the protest against the DM’s decision, has welcomed the HC order..
