Deputy collector intervenes in farmers’ morcha

BICHOLIM: Following the morcha to a mining company office in Mayem on Thursday, deputy collector Pradeep Naik held a meeting with the company officials and representatives of farmers at his chamber on Friday.Nearly 200 villagers from Mayem had taken out a morcha protesting against the company’s failure to compensate those whose fields were damaged due to mining silt.The farmers who were led by Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sabha president Kamlakant Gadekar and youth leader Santoshkumar Sawant had also halted ore transportation and threatened to intensify the stir..
