Locals fear breaching of mining pits in Bicholim

BICHOLIM: Residents of Lamgao, Mulgao, Dhabdhba and Shirgao in Bicholim are living on the edge because of the likely danger of breaching of mining pits. The wall of Rama Mopkar’s house in Ladfe, Bicholim, crumbled under the incessant rain. Bicholim river, which had almost dried up, is now in full flow.Waterlogging on the main roads caused traffic to move slowly and made commuting difficult. There were incidents of trees falling across roads and on electricity cables leading to power outages at different places. Firemen also rescued a bull from a well at Surla.The rain damaged property as well as agriculture..
