Commission to take up issue of child labour along coastal belt

Panaji: The newly constituted Goa state commission for the protection of child rights has decided to look into the issue of child labour along the coastal belt. “Children from neighbouring states are exploited by their parents and made to sell various items on the beach. The public grievance day will be on the first and fourth Tuesday of every month, from 3pm till 5pm. Mandrekar said the commission will also liaise with the panchayat and public works department for better accessibility in remote areas in Quepem, Sanguem, Canacona and Valpoi where children don’t have easy access to schools.The commission’s sitting days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many are also vulnerable to sexually exploitation..
