Car rams into four vehicles leaves 1 dead

In an accident involving five vehicles on the Curchorem-Quepem highway, the driver of a car hit two four-wheelers and two bikes on Thursday evening, fatally injuring one.Junaid Korawale, 25, who was riding one of the bikes, died on the spot. Police sources said Korawale’s body has been taken to Hospicio for postmortem.Tanki resident Christanand Pednekar blamed the PWD for not installing speedbreakers on this accident prone stretch The impact threw him off his two-wheeler and into a gutter. The rider of the other two-wheeler was rushed to South Goa’s premier hospital, Hospicio, in Margao.Quepem police inspector (PI) Brutano Pexeioto said that the driver of the car has been arrested for rash and negligent driving. He sustained fatal head injuries.The accident occurred at Tanki in Xeldem.Police said that Korwale was headed to Tilamol in Quepem when the car moving in the same direction crashed into him.The car first hit a parked vehicle loaded with marble slabs before colliding with an oncoming four-wheeler and two bikes, police said..
