Goa government to rethink penalty for medical, dental students

PANAJI: The government on Friday decided to hold its decision to ask students of medicine and dentistry at the Goa Medical College (GMC) and the Goa Dental College (GDC) to furnish a bank guarantee at the time of admission.Health minister Vishwajit Rane told TOI on Friday that the order has been kept in “abeyance” and that further decision will be taken after discussion with the secretary health. This was to ensure that other deserving students were not deprived of the opportunity to pursue a career in medicine.The government, an official said, took the decision to get students to submit a bank guarantee at the time of admission in a bid to get them to comply with the bond provisions..
