Events for tribals to get financial aid from state

Panaji: The state government has decided to provide financial aid under its ‘Sahayata’ scheme to various organisations working for the empowerment of tribal population in the state.Assistance can be availed for organising events related to tribal culture, rights awareness, and sports and medical camps for those communities.Voluntary organisations, self-help groups, women’s organisations, sports, cultural and youth clubs can get a maximum of Rs 40,000 each for holding programmes, but will have to make 20% contribution of the total cost.Panchayat raj institutions will get 100% funding, but up to a maximum limit of Rs 50,000. Every entity can hold a minimum of two and a maximum of four events in a year.The director of tribal welfare will sanction the amount to the beneficiary once it gets details of the activity, utilisation certificate and a report on the conduct of such activity within a period of 15 days from holding the event.The scheme will be monitored every three years and its performance will be evaluated after five years by a committee..
