Panaji: Drishti Lifesaving has written to chief secretary Dharmendra Sharma detailing the reason behind its decision to cease its beach cleaning services. In its letter, Drishti has stated said while it is committed to ensure a positive beach environment and an enriching beach experience to visitors, it had to discontinue its services after its work order ended on November 12.Drishti stated that it worked on “rock bottom price” fixed by the government for carrryng out cleaning services. Also, the agency pointed out that the tender floated by the tourism department to select a new beach cleaning agency was “strangely restrictive” and disqualified Drishti from participating in the bidding process.“It is unjustifiable for Drishti to continue working with no work order and no financial incentives,” the agency stated in its letter.Drishti also stated that it has not received payments for the last four months, thus putting a strain on its resources..
